My consulting theology
My passion and specialism as a consultant is to transform companies in the timber and furniture industries and make them highly profitable.
My theology is driving what happens in the workshop with accurate numbers and costings to ensure profitability, and finding ways to even-out production through the year, so that your workshop becomes a cash generator, rather than a cash devourer.
I believe in giving management and staff the data they need to make decisions on a daily basis, so they can make a difference today, rather than analysing data after the event and wondering why nothing ever changes.
I work with some of the country’s leading high end kitchen and component manufacturers, enabling their growth and profitability.
My coaching and consulting often go hand in hand, consulting on the business, whilst coaching and developing the Owners, Directors and Executives.
For some companies my bespoke manufacturing software, Woodge manufacturing is a perfect fit, it brings all the data into one intuitive programme enabling Directors, key decision makers and shop floor employees to understand their roles in an informed and prompt way. For example, a Director can see live-time performance information at a glance, a manager can see which of their team is most productive, and an employee can work towards achieving a goal through intuitive dashboards.
A recent consulting project
A recent consulting project involved taking a national furniture manufacturer who were struggling financially, and transforming them.
I linked the finances with production, ensuring costs, sales and production were all aligned and management had the information required to be able to make strategic decisions. I enabled accurate reporting to the Board so that the Board could ensure the company became and stayed profitable.
I developed the company into a position where it became a wise investment for potential investors.
I took them from a company that had historic debt, was behind on a large contract and facing an uncertain future, to a company that added circa £700k to the balance sheet, brought the large contract under control, delivering it on time and at profit and integrated financial planning to the production, building the foundations for future profitability.
I actively developed a detailed cash flow, giving control over cash, which matched to the production scheduling within my Woodge Manufacturing software, ensured the workshops are now delivering on time and generating the revenue required every single day.
This company is now installing Woodge Manufacturing, to ensure the productivity and profitability continue once my consulting contract ends.
My background
I originally trained as a fine cabinet maker, restoring antiques and hand crafting unique individual pieces of furniture for HNW clients. As my company grew, I moved from the workbench into the office and learned the craft of running a business.
Following in the footsteps of my Grandfather, who worked alongside Alan Turing at Bletchley Park on the first computer, I taught myself how to program and created the software to run my furniture company, this then developed into the Woodge Manufacturing Software.
Alongside running two companies, I now work as a coach and consultant.
My company also develops the House Martin App, this unique software that delivers an all in one system for managing households and yachts of the High Net Worth was originally conceived over a cup of coffee in Sloane Square with Martin Higgins, a premiere consultant for UHNWI’s who originally trained as a butler at Buckingham Palace.
My intimate knowledge of woodworking, from being on the tools to programming CNC’s and running large workshops, coupled with many years Director level experience in the woodworking industry has put me in a unique position to work with major brands and manufacturers to expand their production, control costs and ensure profitability grows.
